I'm incredibly good at some things and horrible at others, and yes, I've burned cup o'noodles, too! (those things are hard to get right)
I can make roasted whole chicken with vegetable stuffing, chicken alfredo with noodles and sun dried tomatoes, stir fry, shrimp scampi, chicken breasts with rice, chicken curry, spaghetti and tomato sauce with veggies and beans instead of meat, corn on the cob, and that's about it...really. Everything else either comes from the freezer, a can, or a box.

To be completely honest, I'm a very good cook, and luckily I love cooking! Especially whipping up really fancy meals for friends and family (trying to impress the in-laws in particular is a great hobby of mine!) I've also had a really great time teaching friends how to cook. They tell me what they like to eat, they come over, we make it, then we eat it. (they bring the wine!)
I think the best way to become a great cook is to enjoy eating good food, then you're inspired to make something great.
But even so, I've burned many a meal, including microwave soup, and chocolate, which is the most HORRIBLE smell on earth!
Don't give up, don't be hard on yourself. Keep cooking, keep eating!

Yes, one of my hobbies is cooking. My grandparents were both born in Sicily and my grandmother was a fabulous cook so I hope I follow in her footsteps. However, I love to cook many different things, not only Italian. Some of my favorite things to make our stir fried sweet and sour pork, Swedish meatballs, veal parmigiana, sukiyaki (a Japanese stir fry) crab cakes, risotto, eggplant scallopine. I would say, about half of my recipes are from cookbooks and the other half are my own creations, in particular, my vegetable concoctions. As for you, it really never is too late to learn and if you are open to the possibility, you may find that it really can be a whole lot of fun.

This question makes me giggle a bit. I'm our cook at my house. my wife of 12 years cooks food that my dog will not eat(seriously) after about a week of being married we decided she should never cook again. aside from using the microwave to cook herself a meal, she does 0 cooking. I enjoy cooking and did a lot of it at my house growing up. My mom taught me how to cook anything and everything, yet my wifes mom would not allow her in the kitchen. its kinda funny how our society is changing. I know my grandpa thought it odd that my wife didn't know how to cook. he asked me when I told him I was getting married "is she a good cook" I answered "heck no grandpa, she burns everything" he replied "you're going to starve to death" he couldn't fathom the idea of a woman not cooking. Now when I see women cooking on t.v. it seems really odd to me. just kinda funny how we as a society are changing and evolving.

best question today. everybody give her a thumbs up.

I like to think that I am a good cook, at least I think that what I cook tastes good. But I would not know anything without recipes.. I don't have to follow them exactly, but have something to go by...

YES! I am a great cook ~ but like anything you must learn how. Try following the instructions and watching the pot/oven, it is usually always a success if you follow the recipe! Good Luck!!!!! :)
