I just bought seafood from Albertsons and i had a bite from one of the big claws. Immediately I tasted something horrible. It tasted like bleach (not that I've tasted bleach). It was so strong that immediately, my nose started to burn. When I let my husband smell the empty claw even he could smell it. Without getting a bunch of sarcastic answers, does anyone have any idea of what happened? The rest of the crab legs were great.

I've heard that some butcher shops, meat depts, etc. use chemicals sometimes to hide the odor of "day old" meat. My best guess is that seafood depts do that also. I would definitely call Albertsons and tell them. Ask for your money back or see what they offer. That's not right.

It sounds like it was just some basic cross contamination. Bad handling. Someone just wasn't thinking and accidentally spilled, or some was in a little puddle on the table and someone assumed it was water and didn't bother to wipe it up. That's a really gross oversight though. I would rather have them accidentally drop it on the floor and still use it than get bleach on it. It probably happened at Albertsons, and not where ever they get it from.

Well, not all the crab legs were from the same crab, so the one you got (unfortunatly) was getting old. It won't harm you, but I would say something to the store manager
