Is this normal behavior? How long will he do this? When he does this he purrs and paws. Right now it's cute but he won't be a 6 month old kitten forever.

Oooooh, that is so adorable. He loves you. You are right about him not being 6 months forever. If it doesn't bother you, then just let him do it. He will probably stop eventually. Cats have the strangest habits. My cat used to like to sit in my lap when I was on the commode. He would just purr and purr.

I currently work for the SPCA. He is probably one of those kittens that are very loving and likes to be held. If his claws are bothering you when he does that, get this thing called Soft Paws. They are little plastic coverings that go ontop of their nails. You can get that at your local pet store and they come in a variety of colors. Also, your veterinarian can apply them for you. I'm not sure if your kitten is neutered but if not, neutering him can help calm him down. Another advantage of neutering your little one is avoiding future health issues such as testicular cancer. I hope this helps and good luck!

The kitten thinks your ear,is it's mama cats breast. Just don't put it up around your ear. Yes all kittens will do this,it is natural for them to want to nurse. I have 10 year old cats, and they will still take their claws, and paw at the floor when they eat, just as they did when they were babies nursing.

Aww! He thinks you're his momma!

Actually, you should start to 'wean' him soon, if not already. Sometimes kittens who have undergone trauma or were taken from their mothers too soon do this, but most 6 month old kittens have outgrown the need to nurse.

Awwww,..that's adorable. He's just bonding with his Mom! You should feel happy he feels so safe & happy with you. This is perfectly normal. If it bothers you, gently pull him off your ear and just place him on your chest, petting him all the while. He won't even notice you've pulled him away and will eventually be broken of this habit.

My precious cat did the same thing every time I held him, and he did it until he was 16 years old. I would love to have him purring in my ear again. Enjoy.

contrary to what everyone is saying, your cat might not grow out of this. my cat was a year old, and did that on my shirt every night. he would get a peice in his mouth and suck, and push his paws on me. i would get up after twenty minutes and have a big wet spot on my shirt. i never was able to break him of it. it seemed to comfort him. i think it was because i got him when he was 5 weeks, and i was his mommy.

He loves you. It's comforting to him to have "Mom" there with him. Perfectly normal behavior for a kitten.
As cats grow older, they will still nuzzle, knead (what I call "making biscuits") and cuddle.
Enjoy your time with him. I miss my kitty a lot.
