Yeah you are right but I think it is just a particularly bad time right now with all the things that have happened in the last few years and the attitudes of some very loud ignorant Americans out there ruining it for the rest of you. Any country should be hospitable to any foreign guest who are there with a desire to see a new place and experience a new culture. While I am a bad one for being a bit "anti-American". I have to admit that one thing I have experience visiting the states is that people are fairly hospitable even if they did ask some really odd questions.
I think it is good that you are saying this because people need to hear from the Americans that aren't ignorant warmongers. I am sorry to hear that you have been treated badly. I am Canadian and sometimes have gotten attitude because people think I am American because of the accent.

You're totally right!
I'm Mexican.
I think most people from the US (I don't like calling them Americans 'cause America is a continent, and not a country), are very arrogant, and they think their country is the best in the world, when they are starting wars as in Iraq.
I feel happy of hearing about people like you, who does not agree with the president.
But... my question would be: why did more US people voted Bush and not the other guy?
I don't like to generalize at all, I don't hate anybody, but I don't like the way most US people think.
That's what I think, and of course I'm going to stop generalizing people!
Good luck! :)

Go to "political section" and read questions and answers of Americans and maybe you will understand better.
But don't worry, normal people all over the world don't judge anybody by nationality but by behavior. So if you are a nice person, everybody will like you!
Don't believe everything you can read on Yahoo. A lot of people here are crazy extremists or mental exhibitionists. Come to Europe for a while and you surely will feel very comfortable here :)

I am Australian and I don't hate Americans, in fact I go to the US as often as I can, I love it there and I am in awe of the choices available to the consumer. I personally think that some other nationalities judge Americans by what they see and read via the media. I have found that most Americans are friendly, generous and interested in how I think, live and work. I am also interested in how Americans live and work and the differences between our cultures. Like you I wish that you weren't judged by what politicians and media say and do.

I have met plenty of Americans and I really liked them. No different to many others in the civilised World. Maybe you are visiting the wrong places but I'll tell you what I would rather have Bush for a Leader than 90% of the other tossers who run a Country.

Ok, I'm American and I didn't follow directions. Just wanted to comment that it was so interesting reading these responses. I do think foreigners judge all of America by the government and movie stars, etc. Don't you agree the rest of us are nothing like either of those! Oh well, who cares what they think...they don't have to come here if they don't like it.

I don't have a problem with Americains just the way their current government if f**king things up.
However from what I have seen of the US and it's people the majority of those I have met are either dumb as mud, or so religious it makes me wanna convert to satinism.
But I am sure that not all americains fall into those catigories, only those I have met.

i do not hate americans...even though i do not like america...
most of the citizens are innocent, there is no reason for me to hate them.
i do not understand why innocent people always pay for those things they do not do...
hope every one can justify everything with a clear eye
