Ironically the Sharia law is very much misunderstood, thanks to some nuts in Saudi Arabia and other places who impose the Sharia law in a fascist manner.
Remember that Sharia law says allow Christians to practice their faith in freedom, and the Jewish folks to practice their faith in freedom. Not only that, but they are governed by their respective laws under the Sharia law. According to the REAL SHARIA law, the chief Jewish Rabbi would establish the Jewish laws on the Jewish folks living under the Sharia laws. Whereas the Jewish Rabbi can not institute the Jewish laws on an American Jew who is governed by the American law.
Thus in reality Sharia law if properly applied gives people the freedom to follow their own laws, as they sincerely believe that is what God orders them to do.
Only in the case of inter-religious crimes does the question arises which law would apply and in accordance to the Sharia laws, the victims law will apply on the aggressor, which is a very fair way of dealing with things. In the case of crimes within a given community, their own laws would apply.
If someone does not choose to live under the Christian or Jewish laws or other laws that are recognized by the government, only then by default they would fall under the Muslim laws.
I hope this makes sense. Thus in my view if TRUE SHARIA laws were applied in any place, the Christians and Jews and others of other faith who are registered with the authority will have more freedoms than in a secular society which banishes the laws of all religions in the matters of criminal justice and allows them freedom only in the matters of religious laws.
I hope this makes sense.

Moslems, if allowed to do so, would no doubt democratically elect to live under Sharia.

I have never lived under shariah law, only in america. So I can't say for sure, but I do believe if we all followed GOD's laws, we wouldn't need police, or courts, or prisons.
Unfortunately, unless God intervenes, it'll never happen.

We prefer Sharia law because men always get off for lack of evidence, but the women always get 80 lashes for their crimes against the men for tempting us into have sex against our will.
