I am so sick of people touching me, especially men who try and 'casually' put their hand on my shoulder or lower back, as if they don't have an alterior motive.
And the worst is the hand shake because both of our skin is exposed. I don't care if it's a man or a woman. Believe what the janitor always told you about how the women's restroom is worse than the men's. Because it is! Poop strings hanging from the toilet, pee on the seat, maxi pads rubbed on the floor. And it's usually the prettiest girls who don't wash their hands afterwards. Trust me I'm a woman, I know how nasty girls are in the ladies room and in their dorm rooms. Men are also nasty as well. Why do people always want to shake my hand right before I eat in a restaurant? How do I tell people I never shake hands with anyone , ever? Should I just pretend I don't see their hand or say something?
I am serious about this I really need all of your answers and help.

Wow! Just Wow! I didn't know shaking hands was a MUST to some people. I don't have a personality disorder, people who cry over simple rejection have a personality disorder to me. If people are allowed to turn me down for a record deal and a modeling contract, then I can turn people down for whatever I feel like too.
To say not shaking hands shows lack of trust, I hope so. I don't want someone who is sucker and trusts everyone they meet. These are the idiots who are always victims of identity theft.
We don't know how many people get sick from hand shaking, they can't even prove that, I can just tell it's nasty.
By the way, I always shake hands with my boss/customers, because I won't put my paycheck in jeapordy, then I secretly sanitize. But to do that all day would dry out my hands. So why be gross all day with total strangers if it's not business related?

Wear a glove. The utensils at the restaurants are touched by various people. The ladles at the salad bar, the plates, people cough around it. The seat you are sitting on could have been occupied by some "nasty" person. There are worse manners or items to worry about than a handshake. Unless, you are totally secluded in some remote part of the world you are going to come in contact with bacteria and virii in one form or the other.
If you don't want to shake hands then just say it is against your belief or religion. Carry one of those hand cleaners (in small plastic bottles) and clean your hands discreetly.
Obviously you don't have children. Wait till you have them and the crud they bring home with them. :)

It's polite to shake hands. Just suck it up and do it. Refusing to do it is saying, "I don't trust you," which, in this case, is actually the reason you don't want to shake hands. If your refuse, you are saying, "I don't trust you, you are dirty."
It's not rude, however, if you want to wash your hands or put on some hand sanitizer afterward.
When you're shaking hands, keep your hand extended out far away from your body and your arm stiff. This will help stop people from putting a hand on your body.

Hand shaking is a culturally accepted norm AND expectation. How are you going to handle situations in the workplace or if you have your own business and are trying to get clients? Do you have some sort of personality disorder?

I tell people im a germaphobe if thats even a correct word for hand shaking or I lie and say I have a cold. Tell men when they touch that it is inappropriate or if its at work tell a manager that you dont appreciate it.

Just give them an acknowledgment with a little curtsy and a nod of your head. Then I don't think a hand shake would be necessary.

Just stay home, do not interact with other humans. You do not wish to shake hands and you not like to be touched, stay home and stay away from all sexes. Oh and there is not enough wine for your whining, do the next best thing and stay away!

Simply don't extend you hand. Bow instead. They may think you're Japanese or something. I really don't think that there is a polite way to not shake someones hand.

I agree with stacia. It's not like people are constantly getting sick from shaking hands. If that were true, nobody would do it. A psychologist can help you work on your fears.
