i'm not bragging! i'm not even a seabee. I'm joining the Army.

I just thought it was fun trying to decide if it was a seabee or marine, cause it was tricky for me.

It is not uncommon to see SeaBees looking like Marines, especially in the field, as the camoflage uniform is worn by both services. Unless you can see the name tapes, collar rank or the from of their utility cover (hat for you non-speakers out there), you really would know. The corpsman in utilities would be easier to spot, because he will have some aditional equipment from the standard Marine rifleman (a Corpsman's medical bag or pack).

Naval personell attached to a Marine Unit (i.e- a corpsman or flight/battalion surgeon) is actually authorized to adopt the Marine corps service uniforms (green trousers, khaki shirts, green blouse), but it will have their navy rank and associated accountraments. The medical staff assigned to my squadron (one flight surgeon, two corpsmen), all elected to wear the Marine uniforms, and it didn't matter.

Because he was one of us.

The Seabees were not only a Construction Battalion (C.B.,hence the name SeaBee) for the Navy during WWII,they were a fighting unit as well.

I could really only tell in the color photos. Seabees were usually in tan uniforms, and marines in darker uniforms, but I couldn't tell in the WWII photos.

OK, it is difficult. However the last one was a giveaway as I was a Combat Engineer in the Marines and did drive one of those units one time along with any number of other projects.
