Yes, my husband deals with 5 step children.. Let me rephrase, he doesn't just "deal" with them, he loves them like they were his blood. He cheers their accomplishments, aches at their tribulations.. He IS their dad, and always will be.

No real advise what so ever on how to handle that Brady Bunch you got !! But I will say this: I hope your wife first and for most respect, admires, and appreciates the things you have done to give her children a father figure they can model themselves after ( especially if there are any boys, the girls will learn how a man is to treat them as well).

I would say stay in prayer, if your not saved, GET SAVED!! You need Jesus in your life, you have a very big obligation, and keep this in mind. Men are the first person a little girl falls in love with. Help your step daughters to know that no man is good enough if they can't do at least what there Daddy did for me.

** AND TAKE SOME DAMN VITAMINS TOO!!**

GOD BLESS you and your family!

Just be fair and firm and TRY to avoid conflicts concerning discipline with your husband. Talk things out with him. Have family meetings to discuss problems and communicate with the children on an individual level as well. Give all five children effective attention and avoid the "favorite" child scenario even if you have one. Show them respect and expect it in return and address it if you don't get it. BE PATIENT, but don't let them have control over you because you don't want to come across as a mean stepmother. It could be a trump card and children will take advantage of a known weakness real quick. I wish you the best!!!!

You better think real hard, there 1+5 against you, also the other parent. I wouldn't take 5 children to raise even if I loved DEAR OLD DAD. It want last 6 months if that long.

I was a step-mom of 3 kids before being a mom. I gotta tell ya....it's much easier to be a mom of your own kids than to be a step-mom.....

As a step-mom, I felt my opinions were useless....they will always and always respect their own parents first. And they will see you more as a "friend" rather than a mom. At least that was in my case.

It's really a tough job. Be prepared! Good luck and may God give you wisdom.
