I agree with everyone else, use red food coloring but one thing I need to stress is to color ALL of the icing at the same time, It is real hard to match the pinks if you run out and have to color more. Be sure that you have enough icing to ice all of the cake with maybe a little left over. I dyed some icing purple one time then ran out and ended up with two different shades of purple for the the cake, never could get it exactly the same.

Go to the baking supplies section of your local supermarket and purchase a small bottle of red food colouring. It's cheap. When you mix the icing before applying, put a few drops of food colouring into the bowl and stir really well.
Voila, girly cake.

I made a "Hello Kitty" cake for my niece and I used pink gel color and a drop or two of red...both items were purchased at Wal-Mart for a couple of dollars a piece. It came out hot pink. A friend told me after the fact that she once used beet powder, but I don't know anything more about that! Good Luck!

Food colouring, add a few drops of red or pink food colouring onto the icing before rolling it onto the cake

I have never seen pink food coloring but you could try mixing in a small amount of red and just keep doing that till pink enough

Yes, all you need to due is add red food coloring. Start off with a little and mix well. Then keep adding a little more in increments until the desired color is achieved.
