usually people pass something around and people put money in it......or you can give a card and money.....a lot of people also give gag gifts......if its formal i would not give a gag gif,t if your close to the person......have fun with it

If you feel the need to give a gift, then do so. If you feel that you will get the wrong thing and offend then money is a good choice. Logic tells you that there will be an interruption in the earnings of the retiree and that cash may just hit the spot.

Talk the other people going and see what they're doing but I really don't think you give money. A gift is better. If you don't know what to get talk to them about what they plan to do on their retirement and buy a gift card for somewhere they can get stuff to enjoy their new free time. Like if they plan to garden get them a garden centre or hardware store gift card.
