YOU don't.

A DOCTOR does.

Multiple Sclerosis is defined as multiple neurologic deficits in different areas over different periods of time.

For example, loss of vision in one eye 3 years ago, for 2 months. then 6 months ago numbness in one arm, mostly better, now with dragging the opposite heel.

Very few other diagnoses would present with such a constellation of symptoms.

MRI is the test of choice. Imaging of the brain and spinal cord would confirm if only white matter lesions are shown.

Studies on spinal fluid are also helpful.

It is important to make a diagnosis as soon as possible, because treatment is now available that can limit long term disability.

Use your CT scanner on your head and spine and look for white matter lesions.

You could also give yourself a spinal tap and see if the are oligoclonal bands.

You could also see a neurologist who can conduct a proper history and physical exam and determine what tests are appropriate.

My apologies for the sarcasm, but the question was too good a set-up. I seriously hope you don't have MS and can set your mind to ease.

I would strongly suggest a doctors investigation, it is very difficult to be sure with out it. On line diagnosis should be used a a tool for information and should not take the place of good medical care. Take the information you learn to your doctor. Being an active participant in your health is always a benefit to you. All the best

Do all the tests for the other nervous system diseases and if they are all negative, you can say MS.

Have the doctor run tests. This is not a do-it-at-home option.

You can't. You have to go to a hospital and undergo a lot of testing.
