How would you react to someone who basically took the best aspects of your religion, and the best aspects of the other two, and lived life according to their own 'tailor-made' doctrine incorporating the main themes of these 3 main monotheistic faiths?

Thanks!

Well, I'm a Muslim and I'll give you my own opinion and not a 'general speculative consensus' of all Muslims. In Islam there are basically 2 fundamental rules. Without these 2 rules there is no Islam. 1) Belief in one God, one who has no equals. 2) Believe that the prophet Mohamed (pbuh) is a messenger of God and nothing more. So, if the new new tailor made religion had these 2 rules in it then technically I would have nothing against it.

But, even these two rules clash with the fundamental principles of Christianity and Judaism so I don't think a religion where aspects of all three were included could be created.

The answers all seem to be 'whatever you want you do.' However this doesn't work. When you are bringing up a child you don't just have good things and ignore the rest - this produces a maladjusted child (which may explain the reason the country is in the state it is). You have to take it all or nothing at all.Otherwise we would all be over indulged spoilt brats. Many people have tried to tailor make their religions and what do you get? Jonestown, Waco, Ossama bin Laden and Nazism.

I'm being very over dramatic but that's how important it is.

Depends what you mean by 'best.' Easiest for the person? That's not what religion is about. Presumably, any Muslim doing this would be subject to execution for converting. Also, a problem exists in incorporating the main themes, for whilst Judaism and Christianity might be compatible. For Islam and Christianity there is a problem, the best part of Christianity, revolves around the divinity and sacrifice of Christ. Islam, is strictly speaking, blasphemy to Christianity, since it denies the divinity and sacrifice of Christ. Similarly, Christianity runs contrary to the beliefs of Islam for the same reasons.

How would I react to someone who basically took the best aspects of 'my religion' and the best of Jewish and Muslims and 'tailor-made' their own doctrine?" Well, IF I didn't believe 2 Tim. 3:16-17 Rom. 15:2-13. That includes the promises and curses contained in Rev. 22: 18-21. A True Christian lives their life NOT to please men nor (Even myself) but God! The true Jew believes that as well. Christ laid out for those who would Follow the One True God to: Matt. 22: 34-40 ( Compare that with Lev. 19:2-4, and 17-18). I can't speak on behalf of the Muslim faith. But if we all Believe in ONE God then we have to turn to the Source of what HE says about Himself. The Scriptures. Yawheh says "I am the same yesterday, today and forever." Heb. 13:8, 1:12; Heb. 3:1-19 So it isn't one man's religion that "We" as True Disciples of Christ follow....But God's and the way God showed HIS love is Jn. 3:16. Christ didn't come as a King or Lord or Master....but rather as a Servant. Who would've dreamed of that? Not even His disciples Jon. 13:31-35. Also Christ told us "Christians" that we would be persecuted for the "Cause of Christ" Jon. 16: 1-4. Matt. 5:1- 7: 1-29. IF All mankind would lay aside our Pride and prejudice and Worship God as HE wants us to worship HIM. Then there wouldn't be War because we would be shaking hands with All in Love of our Father. Hence it is because of Man made religion that everyone finds ourselves in the Times we live in now. God gave us the Law showing what was "Good" and "Bad" but Man either through ignorance or stubbornness of Pride couldn't keep even the Law Look at the Jewish history in Scripture. But God, Having a Plan from the Beginning Gen. 3: 1-24 compare that with Jon. 1:1-18. So a True Believer must bow our Will to the One we serve. A Christian serves not with Sword, Arrogance, or Selfish Pride....But with the Armor that God gives and grace's us with found in Eph. 6: 10- 20. Being clothed with the garments for the inner person found in Gal. 5: 22-24. And it is not with Man's wisdom or personal knowledge that we are to use to Lead those to Christ, rather it is through our humility in Service: Acts 2:43-47. Luke 15: 1-7, Matt. 18: 10-11. I leave this challenge to those who Truly wish to seek His favor: 2 Tim. 2:15.

it's up to them how they live their life, i'd just be glad they had taken soemthing good from my religion, and the 2 best aspects of these religions are probably all the same, as they have very similar main beliefs. would be a shame if they couldn't choose 1, but at least they'd have the most important belief of 1 God.

I took up this method of living approx 5 years ago...oddly enough my life has been filled with many abundances...far more than when I was within the Christian faith. I also take the best of the Native American Indian beliefs (my grandmother was Indian), Buddist, Taos, beliefs from China etc, etc.

Thus far my life has been a long list of abundances, little difficulty, incredible instances that just seem to come together in perfect union etc. I never had this kind of experience as a Christian, which I was for many years.

This may not be for everyone, but it is what fits me and does so extremely well...

Then you'd be following yourself, not a religion.

Actually true Christians don't follow a religion, they follow Jesus Christ.

You have to go much deeper than your question implies if you want to find spiritual truth. It is only spiritually discerned. For this you need a real relationship with God in prayer/meditation, praise, dreams, life experiences, whatever.

Ultimately you can't go by what other people think or even what scriptures say on their own. You have to come to the point where scriptures confirm what God has shown you personally.

Islam teaches to respect other faiths. Although it is nice to get other religions and people to see what islam is about obv u cannot force someone or persuade them so much to become a muslim bcos they have their own free will. So if it was to come to that, a muslim should respect that and let the person believe in what they want to.

Every person who is and ever was and ever will be is an individual. All have their own paths to follow which while not predetermined are known by God. God has zero control over any individuals path and only offers instructions through his prophets for each to effect their path positively. Each will be accountable for their actions at the end of time and each will be judged. God does not have control over each persons individual scale of accountability (good and bad actions) and He is obligated to render judgment and justice (heaven or hell) to each according to the balance of their scale of accountability.

Go for it!

I hope it works for you. Religion is just the method you choose to worship. Choose the one that suits you best and makes you feel comfortable. If you do decide to incorporate all the major religions into one that makes you feel closer to God/Allah/Jehovah, then do so, but make sure that you don't make stuff up .... be sure it doesn't conflict with His word.
