imagine you don't know what 'wind' is. now imagine you are a dog, and some weird sound came out of your bottom, only you don't realize it's supposed to. Now, not only does that 'strange' noise disturb and scare you, but it smells also. Now do you know why your dog is frightened?
They do get used to it though. My bullmastiff just lets em go and don't blink an eye. LOL.

My dog never broke wind until she was a year and a half. Whenever she would "poot", she would run around the room like a rocket ship! This only lasted a couple of months, and now she is comfortable with her bodily functions.

Aaw hes/shes frightened because they dont know what it is they are doing. Most puppys are like that. When I first got my dog he was scared of his reflection in the mirror! ha! its just a phase im sure he/she will get used to it

It sounds like your Dog could have a nervous problem.

lol, my dog was the same way. he would look at me like i did it, and move away. he was about 3 months at the time. he finally got used to it, and it didn't freak him out so much.

the dog is not scared of its own farts. He just knows how bad they smell , so he gets the heck outta there so he doesn't have to smell them too! ha ha ha. I know that's how my dog is!
