Hi there
I am a hairdresser and quite often had this problem. Once i had to do a full head tint of 66/0 (dark brown) and had ran out of gloves, so as you can imagine my hands were a real mess. I rubbed as much stain remover (wella one is good) and it faded a little, but the main problem was my nails were really delicate and tender. Once i got home, i put a little bit if bleach on my hands with lots of water and rubbed them hard, it also helped to fade, but took a while. After doing a few clients the next day and washing their hair etc, the dye had faded off my hands, but found it harder to come off my nails, so i just painted my nails until it dissapeared.
I really hope it comes off soon and isnt causing too much pain as i know how sore and uncomfortable it could be.
Good Luck, Hope this helps.
Sharon xx

Well first of all you should always wear gloves when coloring your hair. If for some reason you happen to get it on your skin take a little shampoo and rub it on there. It the color is already on there, it will have to wear off on its own. If you wash your hands regularly it should be gone withen a day.

I dye my hair every 4 weeks bright red..I use baby lotion around my hair line & if any gets on my hands arms etc, I use baby lotion again and a scrubbing brush, by scrubbing brush I mean a nail brush! Or baby soap works aswell, if not wait and it does wear of!! But the gloves are rubbish, you should buy Spontex latex gloves 1.50 for a box of 10!

Good question! I've used Jif (or Cif or whatever it's called!) before now!!!
They say you remove tint with tint, but never tried it, and can't see how that works! I always get it round the hairline, and it's a b*gger to get off! Lots & lots of scrubbing really! Just make sure you use plenty of hand cream afterwards.

Nail varnish remover, methalated spirits or bleach. In future, moisturise your hands so they are slightly greasy. Will wash off easier after that. I hate wearing the gloves too!

if you´ve still got some dye rub it in your hands then wash off quickly, if not spray hairsray on your hands then scrub with washing up liquid, if that don´t work its gotta be bleach and water i´m afraid , make sure you moisturize well after !
p.s i heard cigerette ash can help but not sure if its a hairdressers urban legend

If only I had the answer! The only way to avoid staining is to wash it off as quick as possible. The only way I can think of getting rid of stains quicker (but not immediately) is to exfoliate the skin that has the dye on it.

Two ways, rub ash between your hands (mind you I don't think I could do that!) and by spraying them with hairspray, just washes off then. That's good for getting it out of lots of things. I dye mine black and got it on a cream leather sofa and sprayed it with hairspray, came off as though it hadn't been there.
