Here is an example of how interpretation of rules can have different outcome.. They are the rules of the pool of the hotel next door. Just went to get an exact copy, they had been removed, they are painting..There was some classic stuff in there I now miss, the way one of them was formulated in the 2 languages was in was fantastic. I took them as rules for us here (pool is really symbol restrictive are we here??) It was talking about guests like we are. On top of it the radio was playing "We are the children looking for Love". The whole thing fit, I use only 3 rules here..
*The use of stereos in pool area is forbidden
I read the use of stereotypes here is forbidden..

*Don't change the children in the poolarea. Got in trouble with management, for the children I babysat were playing with a hose, no one complained, and the few guests that were sitting around actually decided to get in themselves andhave fun.. I pointed to the rules and said you are trying to change the children..

The third one I wanna mention: Children should have supervision at all time..

God keeps telling me to develop supervision, X-ray vision or television...Maybe my explanation of this one would lead to too much controversy again, so I leave it there..

You see how things can be if you look at them with a new mind?? God is everywhere, teaching those who wanna listen///tune in...

There were more rules, it was great.... I was actually in demonic attack when the manager came at me all dark eyed. One of the children was dunking under and when she came up she would go, keep saying it and keep fighting.. see He is there..(This is also how I got the Houdini analogy: One of the kids went like harry?? (I think she said harry wonder if??) houdini was a,, (whole description) and then I Am like Houdini I always come free.. Yeah He is chained up in our Hearts, yet will come free..

Love

Soo a lttle illustration of my freaky dory experience and how He helps me through.

I read the answers that everyone else has given, and I think they are pretty much on target. I like how you made the point that each person's interpretation of things can be vastly different, and I enjoyed the analogies you gave.

Without repeating what everyone else has already written, let me add that you make a good point for getting all the facts before we form an opinion or come to a conclusion, much like we expect to happen in a court of law.

Of course, life isn't a courtroom and there is not always the time to consider each aspect of every situation. So I would say that in presenting this to us, you are telling us that we need to keep our eyes, ears, hearts and minds tuned in to the world around us, and be always ready to see the other side when it presents itself to us. And sometimes we may need to go looking.

Live and let live, especially with an open mind.

Freedom is not free - there must always be something higher that is followed be it the rules, the Bible, the Koran or whatever.

My children when they were teenagers complained how much they wanted their freedom to do what they wanted and when they wanted. Now their adults and they realize that the only time they are truly free and happy is a by product of doing the right thing.

I don't know about all that other crap you spouted, but yes, rules can lead to freedom. They keep you free from the constricting actions of others. Your net freedom after instituting rules is often greater than with no rules at all and having to deal with others infringing on your ability to be free.

yes its about a persons perseption of the rules

rules are a necessity-but with power the rules are our friend-they are there to keep law breakers from hurting others-and in Jesus it says and ye shall know the truth a nd the truth shall set you free.

when you have the power to do right-the rules are a blessing unless they step into personal freedom-like u cant share the gospel-david in Jesus amazing grace

Rules are essential for freedom. They form the framework within which freedom can be experienced. If our nation had no laws (rules) there would be complete anarchy, and no-one would have any freedom at all.
