Yes it is very normal for a golden retriever to shed. All you have to do is brush your dog about 3 to 4 times a day (I know it seems like a lot of work but it's worth it!) and give it a bath every 1 and a half to 2 weeks. And make sure to vacumn your house every day and that should help keep your house clean! Also if your dog isn't scared of your vacumn then you can vacumn your dog! I know it sounds weird but a lot of animals like it. Even my cat likes it! Just use the attachment hose to do it! Good luck!

There are special dry dog foods to help prevent shedding but this is normal for a goldy. I have a sheltie and I take him outside every few days and brush him. I've noticed the birds picking up clumps of his fur to make nests with in the past. This cuts down on fur inside and I've noticed a difference when I vacuum too. Good Luck

My Golden Retriever has allergies and that causes her to shed a lot. She gets shots from the vet and that solves the problem. I also give her a Benadryl now and then (vet recommended), and that helps too.
Grooming will also help. Brush her daily to get rid of the loose fur.

All dogs shed, but depending on the coat length its more or less noticeable. My Lab used to shed excessively until I changed his food. Excessive shedding could be due to a lack of nutrients in the dog's diet.
As far as keeping the hair off your stuff, regular brushing helps a great deal. I brush my Lab at least once a day, it helps cut down on getting his hair on me. I also vacuum everyday and vacuum him to. Fortunately my dog loves it. Also he is only allowed on certain furniture. Any where company sits he is not allowed to sit on. He sleeps with me and watches TV on the coach but not the good coaches. Both our dogs knows the diffference. But vacuuming everyday cleans up the mess and you can not tell we have two dogs.

Even for dogs who shed "all the time", they can shed less if given a high quality diet. Vaccuming is the only cure I know of. Get a Dyson or a Rainbow. Either will help you get rid of pet hair.

yes this is normal especially for a house dog. Buy a shedding comb and brush him every day. This will keep dead fur from flying everywhere

Its fairly normal for them to shed like that. I've heard that mixing a teaspoon of olive oil in their food can help significantly with shedding. Also, it helps to brush your dogs fur.

The best way is to brush the dog often. If you do this, it will take most of the loose hairs out, so that they won't fall out around the house.

Go to the groomer and ask for the "shedless" treatment. It costs more than a bath but is well worth the money.
