I seriously pity you - this is a very serious issue - not to be treated lightheartedly. Not sure if this mosquito thing works or not but it might be worth a try at least.

Newsflash - in this country if you call the police for this sort of thing - they CANNOT sort out the problem - the yobs aren't scared of the police and like kicking off with them. If any of them get to court they get at most a small fine. But you may want to try calling them anyway - who knows it might work.

Maybe you could also hire a Private Investigator to gather evidence against individuals to get an ASBO against individual perpetrators - this won't come cheap - maybe you could do this in conjunction with other neighbours.

In five-ten years this question will be irrelevant as the yobs and gangs will have taken over the streets by then - I guess any decent people left will have to put up with it then. The only upside is that without police involvement it does leave the door open to a spot of vigilatism.

Good luck

Tough one! Report them to the police, the council - various departments such as nuisance neighbours, environmental health (noise nuisance) etc. Also, find out if you have a local Neighbourhood Police Officer who can come along regularly and stop check these yobs. It may well be that he/she knows them and has some sort of rapport with them and may be able to persuade them to take their anti-social behaviour out into the middle of a large field or deep lake!

You will have to be prepared to identify them, make official statements etc. Persuade your neighbours to join you as they will no doubt be fed up with this type of behaviour too.

Sadly, you probably won't be able to remain anonymous and it will take time for the courts to deal with the issue and slap an ASBO on them.

If you approach them directly you are likely to have damage done, by them, to your house, vehicles and maybe yourself. It is NOT right but sadly this is the world we live in today in the UK.

Also, if you have a video camera - and can do so safely - film them from an upstairs window - preferably with sound - so you can let the police etc. have this visual and audio evidence to show in court.

GOOD LUCK.

Get some stink bombs from the joke shop and throw them where the yobs stand !, or ring the police and say that you think one of them is carrying a knife and they will soon come out, and if police search them and find nothing and say you were wrong just say sorry - simple mistake, either way it'll make them think twice about hanging around outside your house ?.

Here's an answer if you don't mind forking out for a solution and the yobs are teenages - the Mosquito. It costs around £450, but it works. It emits a high pitched noise that can only be heard by teenagers - they soon disperse. Good luck.

What yu are better off doping, is getting a load of stink bombs, find another place to hide and lob the stink bombs at the yobs, then keep doing this on a regular basis, and then invest in a gas mask, paint it white (or just buy a White Soviet Union gas mask) and get a white chemical suit and wait until night-time to do this, run at them and it will scare them off, they'll think that someTHING at east, is after them, they won't hang around your area after that!

A yob is like someone who is loud and usually likes to cause trouble.

The best known deterrant for yobs is to grease the pavement (sidewalk) and smash a pane of glass onto the greased area.

(It's considered unsporting to not let the paramedics know about the grease before they arrive.)

If I or any of the other residents of the Langworthy Estate in Salford knew this, we wouldn't all have lost our homes (bought off us by the council for peanuts, so say for demolition - although now they've got rid of us they've sold the whole area to a property developer).

And the local MP all this time (10 years of harrassment and mayhem at least, arson attacks, the lot) was Hazel Blears, now second at the Home Office and Minister for Law and Order (Police and Criminal Justice).

Get yourself a diary and record in each day what they have done to annoy you so you have a physical record of what is going on. Purchase a camera even if it is a small CCTV like camera and record their activity outside the house. Once all the evidence if obtained display it to your local home beat officer (Call your station and find out who he is). Ask him to view the footage and he will tell you if you have grounds for an ASBO etc etc.

The laws vary by what area you are in. Sometimes there is a cut off usually 10pm for noises or it's disturbing the peace. The police typically take care of it. Otherwise you have to actually have the police come and you have to file a complaint, which really does nothing.
