My son is four. He's been sick for 8 days now and his symptoms are not improving.

WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN A DOCTOR AND ARE GOING TO SEE ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!!!!! Doctor says he has a cold. Bullshit.

If you have any idea what could be causing this or have experienced this...please tell me!!

Today, he didn't even want to walk on his own and wanted to be carried.

Thank you!

Many flus last 10-14 days. What you're describing, really sounds like flu symptoms. He might also feel a little lightheaded, this is also a common symptom of this kind of flu. He'll appear more tired.

Keep him hydrated. Pedialyte is good, Gerber now makes one too. There's also Pedialyte pops you can try (look like freezie pops). If you don't have any of this on hand, Gatorade works well too. I use Gatorade in a bind, and keep it on hand. It also has a longer expiration date, so it keeps in the pantry well. Whatever you do, keep pushing the fluid. Chicken noodle soup is good to give. The more dehydrated he gets, the worse he'll feel.

If he's running a fever, chances are that he might get up and act better when the fever runs down. Little kids do this a lot. Keep alternating the Tylenol with the Motrin. Keep in mind that Tylenol is every 4 hrs, Motrin is every 6.

If he doesn't have a fever, and gets one over 101 after this point, he may need to be rechecked.

Give it a couple more days, let it finish running its course. If he doesn't have an ear, nose, or throat infection, antibiotics won't do any good anyways. Make sure that he's resting as much as possible, I wouldn't let him go play outside until he's 100%. Check for dehydration (dry mouth, no tears), if he's severely dehydrated, then he'll need to be rechecked.

Maybe an allergy of some sort. They can really make you (or children) very sick.

It could be something in the environment or food.
