Satan according to the old testement is simply an angel of god who by god's order tempts mankind, he is just following orders, not disobeying God.

So called atheists who call themselves Satanist use this servant of God as a symbol? Please don'y humiliate us real atheists by saying you are one of us.

Christians, read the old testement, no where is Satan potrayed as evil, he works for God by tempting man to test there faith. Only the new testement changed what he was. If the new testement said it was gabriel tempting jesus you would be cursing him instead

Paradox if they was true they would not need a church to tell them how to think.

Satan and Lucifer are actually two seperate entities, that a point of Theology most people miss. Satan in the Old Testament had not yet fallen. In between when the events in Job occurred and before Christ was born on earth, Satan fell.

You are right about Satanists not being athiests. They belong to a cult of personality centered around Anton LaVey, a wifebeater, pimp, and cannibal who died bankrupt. When you point these things out they will make the most ridiculous excuses like "So what if he was a wifebeater? Everybody was back in the 50's" This is the same kind of mindset Scientologists have when confronted with negative data about L. Ron Hubbard or Moonies with Rev. Moon.

First of all, this is not a question, it is a statement.

I do however contend that there are no real atheist. An atheist is one who does not believe in God but everyone does worship something be it the Living GOD or a person, possessions or some other thing. Whatever they value the most becomes a god to them. The Bible also tells us that the very nature of things declares there is a GOD so those who refuse to believe are without excuse. (Romans chapter 1) It is not that you can not, it is that you chose not to believe because you would have to do something with that acknowledgment and accept that you are answerable to someone other then yourself.

As others have said, satan rebelled against God and tried to make himself equal to god...much as what those who call themselves atheist do today. Since that time, satan has been doing whatever he can to destroy what GOD has done and the only way he can really hurt GOD is to destroy people. In John 10:10 Jesus said satan came to kill and destroy but HE came to give us life and to give it to us more abundantly. The first link below shows how to have this abundant life.

I also point out that simply choosing not to believe does not change the end result. If I had terminal cancer, I could believe all I wanted to that I did not have it..but the result would still be the same.

Satan before the Babylonian captivity was as you say an agent of God's heavenly court, sent to do his bidding as prosecutor, or "adversary", a recognized rank and function in ancient courts. In Babylon, Hebrew religion came under the influence of Zoroastrian dualism, wherein the principle gods of chaos and order were equal and in opposition. When they returned from exile they brought with them this notion of cosmic war between good and evil entrenched in their theology, along with the notion of physical resurrection after death. By Jesus' day Judaism was split into the traditionalists, the Sadducees, by then a minority, who did not accept the Persian notions, and the Persianizers, the Pharisees, who did. It is the Pharisee Judaism which most heavily influenced Christianity through the most famous Pharisee of all, Saul of Tarsus, who reinvented himself as the Apostle Paul.

God never told Satan to go against His Divine Will. You're nutty. I'd like to see the book, chapter and verse in the Bible (assuming you have one) that says He did. Many atheists like to use Satan as a psychological tool to distance themselves from their Christian upbringing. They don't actually believe in Satan as a real being. Just because you were privileged enough to be brought up in a godless, heathen home, don't pick on those horribly misinformed, ignorant fools who believe the Devil's lie that he, the Devil, doesn't exist. Go to church.

I am Wiccan, not an Atheist but I do know Christianity. Satan was and is the most beautiful angel that God had. He became prideful and disobedient to God so God banished him to earth to live separated from God for all eternity. He is not here to tempt others, he is not here following Gods orders to entrap ppl. And by the way, Atheist do not believe in a God to begin with so they do not believe in Satan or anything in the Bible that was written about him. You are a bit confused about what and who you are following so you might want to read up on it a bit.

The Satanists that follow LaVeyan Satanism are in essence atheists as they don't believe in heaven, hell, god or satan. The followers didn't come up with the name so who are you to knock it and put yourself as being better than they are. That is very small-minded of you. And no, I'm not an atheist or a satanist, I'm Agnostic.

Um, you might want to re-read the bible a little bit closer there.

First, Satan doesn't follow God's orders.

Satan went behind God's back and lied to Eve by telling her she wouldn't die by eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge.

She did die; she and Adam were banished from the Garden of Eden and they both ended up dying.

If Adam and Eve had obeyed God then they may still be alive today and ruling in the Garden of Eden with all of their children.

Second, if you are referring to the book of Job; God had so much faith in Job that He allowed Satan to prove His point about one of His children having so much faith in Him no matter what happened.

Notice that the devil had to first ask permission before God allowed him to do anything to His servant.

All Satan wants to do is to put a wedge between God and His children to steal our souls away from God and make God miserable while torturing mankind because he's still mad about being told that man is greater than the angels.

Remember?

That's why Satan rebelled in the first place because he was jealous of us when he was the first creation of God's.

Satan (Lucifer) wouldn't bow down to man and so he rebelled and took 1/3 of the host of Heaven with him who all became the fallen angels or demons.

Well, Satanism is rather dependent on believing parts of Christianity, so that kinda makes it hard to be an atheist and satanist at the same time...

People who claim to be so are confused.

Actually Satanic religion has little to do with Satan, from what I've read. Its more of a spoof of Catholicism and other religions. They perform rituals and the like to mock the rituals of other religions. They have one ritual where they destroy an item, like a doll made to look like someone who wronged them somehow, mostly as a therapuetic method of calming themselves. Its like "Scary Movie," a joke, a rip-off, a spoof. Most Satanists don't even take the religion seriously.

To believe in Satan you must believe in God. How is believing in one weaker minded than believing in the other.

Both, Christians and Atheists have faith, but they are opposite sides of the same coin. To me, faith of any kind is a hallmark of a weak mind. The strong mind can accept that things are unknowable.
