How much $ do you make? I have 20 years experience. Working in hospital in Pennsylvania, USA Making low forties. Is this competitive?

Hey there....that depends. Do you have a BSW or an MSW? Any add'l post-grad training? Here in NY, hospital social workers (MSW's) make about 40-46k to start. Not sure what BSW's make.
I am in private practice, so my salary is higher, but if I were working in an agency here in the city, I would imagine 38-45k for 0-5 yrs post-MSW, 45-65k for 5-10yrs.

Compared to the South you are making good money if you have just a bachelor's. If you have a masters you should be making more.

About average I'd say. I work in Rochester NY, and am at about the same. We are over worked, underpaid and simply burned out. : )
