my friend had a one night stand 9 years ago with her now husband...they are now happily married with three kids! Everyone says one night stands are terrible things...i dont have them often but dont you think with womans emacipation this is a backwards idea (i mena as long as you protect yourself..you are respecting your self is my motto) Has anyone had a one night stand that has turned in to a great realtionship..if so could you elabourate???

Having a relationship come out of a one night stand is quite possible, but the odds are heavily against it. Your friend seems to have beaten the heavy odds against it. There are many schools of thought on why one night stands are just that.
My take is that since you have already had sex on a first date, there isn't much more to conquer in a potential relationship. Nothing to look forward to or to build a deep personal connection. Also you end up finding out bad information on the person you had the sudden tryst with. These are the reasons why one-nighters don't last long past the night.

I had a one night stand that turned out great! We were in bed her husband came home, Oh boy that was fun! A long term relationship out of a 1 nighter is 1 in a million, most people dont even keep in touch and are usually out of town somewhere or just playing trashy. At that point do you want to stay with some chic that probably fooled around with every guy she met on the first night?

Just take it for what it is-- fun with (I hope) few consequences. Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed!
Most of my best relationships/friendships came from casual encounters, but that's just me. Some people thrive on romance; I don't.
However, I mean-- if someone is turned on by you and they don't know you at all, then that is a great compliment, right? They are reacting to your basic personality and appearance in an immediate way, rather than to what you WANT to project. Try to live up to that first impression that you make, which is apparently pretty powerful-- and just see where it takes you.

I personally wouldnt ever have a one night stand. Too risky and would rather get to know the person first.
Shouldnt always be about s*x. But I know ppl that do, everyone is different. Remember that a lot of ppl that have one night stands what purly that with no strings attached.

a longterm relationship from a one night stand is highly unlikely, but not impossible. If a guy has a one night stand with a girl, he will assume that she is hooking up with other guys the same way, and he will not respect her. If you develop a relationship, it will probably be a sexual relationship, and short term. He will only call you for a booty-call and nothing else.

Define a one night stand- if you mean shagging on the first date, then yes, it can happen- the ring on my finger is proof! Many people say there's no such thing a slove at first sight, but I knew even BEFORE I first kissed my fiance that he was a man I wanted to spend my life with...
so, again, i think it may depend on the definition of 'one night stand'

I meet this guy years ago, and he stayed the night and never left, we had 2 beautiful daughters, 15 years later, we spit, mutually, but we are still very good friends, and i am thankful that i meet him, had 2 daughters, so yes i do believe that one night stands can work.......

well i always think of a 1 night stand as being sex with someone you never see again so the answer is no but yeah you can have a relationship with someone when you've sleep with them on the 1st night!

Yes one night stands can and do turn into long relationships, it is called parent hood, and there is no such thing as 100% protection when it comes to sex
