The Iraq war may have been justified but it didn't have to be carried out in such an incompetent manner.

All wars in the Middle East are partly 'hearts and minds' endeavours. Bush should have presented the war as a global attempt to remove a tyrant rather than an American led conquest.
His rhetoric before the war seemed actively designed to antagonise the whole world, including his allies.

As it is, the war has created more terrorists and sucked militant Muslims into Iraq

No, the plan is to rid our world of terrorists. And we've done a lot to help the Iraqis but your liberal antiwar media will never let you know that. Besides there will be more wars after this one so don't use all your energy up on this one!

the arabs respect strength, it was the best way to let them know what the winning team was. When clinton wouldnt let us use armor or ac-130s in somalia and then cut and run after we lost 18 people, was a good indicator to the throatcutters that we couldnt stand to fight. and it encouraged terrorists, it was bin ladens own words.

But we predicated the shock and awe with rebuilding schools, hospitals and public works.

Good point!

Desmond Tutu gave the commencement speech when my daughter graduated college in 2003. He said that he wanted no help that came with bombs. He said that the US helped South Africa throw off the yoke of apartheid without an invasion, and he was puzzled why the same techniques weren't used with Iraq.

I think he had a good point.

And no, it may not have been best in hind sight, but what do you think is best now?

As soon as they want us to leave, I'm all for leaving.
