i burned a dvd using "click n burnd cd and dvd" and it worked but i put it in the dvd player and it says "please check disc" does anyone know why? and the file is also in avi. form if that means aything

This is a pretty obvious one: an AVI file simply isn't a DVD. You *cannot* just burn any old bullshit onto a DVD disc and expect your DVD player to know what the hell it is. DVD discs are created to a *very* specific format and an AVI file isn't even close to that, hence why your DVD player gets all kinds of confused when you try to feed it an AVI file.
What you need to do is convert the AVI file to DVD compliant video files *then* burn it to disc properly with something like Nero and you're good to go. WinAVI video converter is the fastest and most reliable software I've found for converting downloaded AVI files to DVD, but annoyingly it's not free:

The avi file needs to be converted first. Try using cucusoft avi to dvd program.

DVDs consist of VOB files, not AVI files.
Your typical DVD player doesn't understand what an AVI file is, so you get the "please check disc" error.

if your going to burn dvd , then just use DVD( R) cds to play back on the player
