when i was the worksurfaces i squeezed a lemon on the worksurface and wiped it in, that didn't seem to work. Also the cats NEVER do it when i'm around or in the room, however i sometimes catch one of the cats running out of the room as i walk in, and i find their fur all over the worksurface.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but cats pretty much take over.
I kept my cat off the computer, by putting duct tape (Upside down) on the top of it for a while. He didn't like that, and as soon as I stopped, he was right back up there.
You can't do a thing with a cat, they run the house. Good Luck.

You are living in your cat's house. They make the rules. My 14 week old kitten can now jump up on almost anything. You can spray him, knock him down, yell at him, and 5 minutes later he will be back. Just learn to lock everything up. My computer is a laptop in a secretary. When I leave the room I now have to close it and close the secretary. You have to cat proof your house like you would baby proof it. Wait until he learns to open cabinets.

I solved the problem by keeping the front edges of my countertops visibly cluttered with non-breakable things that make a lot of noise when knocked over and spraying my cat with water when I was home. I used the spray bottle to teach him not to go near a table, not even a coffee table when there is food on it, at other times the coffee table is his chosen throne.

You could get one of those automatic spray air fresheners, set it to go off every 15/30 mins. put it on counter top so it sprays over the area used by your cats.
Cats don't like being sprayed, so after a couple of squirts they'll get the hint, plus your room will smell lovely.
do you get the sun on your worktops, this would make it cosy for them. Get some of those radiator cat beds. give them somewhere nicer to sleep.
ps - i have no idea if air freshener is harmful to cats.

I had a difficulty with my cat leaping on the show and clawing the two the carpet and settee. i don't think in declawing, and the spray bottle basically works once you're homestead to capture them. I opted for a product referred to as "comfortable claws". it rather is fairly a comfortable plastic nail masking that keeps to be on with an adhesive. they are non poisonous and are available exceptionally hues. they don't fret my cat and her typical recurring. She did not additionally be conscious they have been on. I now not situation approximately my fixtures. they are able to be ordered on line or offered in puppy shops. i desire this helps

I was told to use a spray bottle, but my cat played with the water when I squirted him. I even tried a super soaker once. He liked it. You could try to spray him with water while you're there and see him jumping on things. That might train them if they're not weird like mine.

cats are very clever and learn quickly what they can get away with. hiss at him and flap your arms during the day when he jumps up .in the morning clean the surface with disinfectant as he will have been up there during the night.

It might be easier to train yourself not to care. Just keep some clorox wipes for pre work wipe down.
Otherwise, you will just have to restrict them from the room.
