first thing is to talk to your parents and see what they think then you would just make sure you get one that is house trained and make sure it has food and water every day before you go to school

Owning and caring for a dog is a big responsibility. It takes time, money, love, and commitment. If there isn't anyone home during the day to help care for your dog, it's best to find someone who can help out. You don't want to leave the dog outside all day when you're gone - especially when it's cold. My Mom stops by and leaves my dog out while I'm at work. She also dognaps her once in a while and takes her to her house for the day. Don't get a dog until you have someone who is willing to help out when you're not home. Make sure you have some time to help the dog adjust to your home too. You don't want to get a dog and let it alone right away. Get it over a holiday or summer break, when you have lots of time to devote to it's new adjustment. Good luck.

Crate train it. When you are gone, it needs to know that it has to stay in a confined area. If not a crate, block off the kitchen with a baby gate, so that if it pees, you can clean it up easily.

Crate train it.. but you need to talk to your parents first.. and it needs to be a family decision so it doesnt end up in the pound.. and end up euthenized ....
please think about the dog as well as yourself.. dogs are alot of work...

If you have a backyard you can leave the dog there, but make sure it has plenty of water.

work out something with your parents, especially if one of them or neither of them works during the day. you could offer to do more chores for them in turn.
