Nans always shrink! Mine lost about a foot in height between age 60 and 90!
Treat her like the doll she is, 'cause all nans are absolute dolls!

Depends on how old she is. If bone depletion has begun it can be reversed. Normally shrinkage starts around the age of 70 depending on the physical condition of the individual. It can be reversed. Walking is essential to build muscle tone. Calcium supplements. Age concern will give a free list of gentle bone building exercises and a good diet is important. You look out for your Nan.

How fast is she shrinking?
Weight bearing exercises, didrocal (see a doctor for a bone scan and see if this can be prescribed) and plenty of green leafy veggies. Mother nature will take it's course, but these are the things that she can do to keep herself healthy.

As people get older they do decrease in height
Make sure your Nan has lots of dairy products to strengthen her bones and some gentle exercise.

You do that as you get older, its natural.
Just worry if she shrinks dramatically, like in Honey I Shrunk the Kids. that's a job for a professional!

Tie a tin of paint to each of her legs and hang her by her finger tips from an upstairs window for an hour a night, it worked for me.

Years ago, on the odd occasion that I would meet my Nana, she would always exclaim, 'Oo, Forgemonkey, haven't you grown!'
To which I would reply, 'No Nanamonkey, you is shrinkin innit?'
She kept on shrinkin too. Last time I saw her she was in a clay pot on my mums mantlepiece.
