Even if it's not true, I think we need one or two.

Yes dear Nora, I have. Have you ever thought about what we up against in, oh I don't know, the current world?

The ACLU would never allow it. BTW, I heard that it also happened in Russia. They killed 18 out of 20 and stuck pig meat in their mouths. They let the other 2 go so that they could warn others not to try anything lest they end up the same way.

Even if it's not true, then why would we need to do it? I think you are falling for solutions that make you feel good, i.e. inspiring terror in your opponents, vs. solutions that will actually work. How is insulting and angering an entire group of people going to make them stop behavior you don't like? In America, we don't publicly rape criminals on TV, yet we don't have terrorists. Why would you do something that heinous to someone?

This is much like Israel bulldozing the houses of suicide bombers. All Israel is doing is making that bomber's parents, brothers, sisters, and children homeless, and giving them a more personal reason to hate Israel and become bombers themselves. But it feels so good to reach out and punish those who knew the suicide bomber!

Do what is right (fixing the problem) vs. what is Righteous (what we feel we have the right to do).

Have you given any thought as to what business did the US have in fighting in the Phillippines in the first place?

That is pretty far from here. I think we had no business being there, and that those people were fighting for their culture, home and lives just as we would if some army came here to deprive us of our freedom.

You're just making a case for explaining why terrorists would have a historical basis for hating westerners, having nothing to do with our 'way of life' and everything to do with invading and exploiting them.

Think about it.
