If you are just doing 4 nights, you should seriously consider Bermuda, as it is much closer - only a 2 hour flight from Philly - and this would enable you to do some things on the island on the days you travel. I usually take the 9:40 USAir out of Philly, and that gets to Bermuda at 1:00 - take a cab to the hotel, and you have all afternoon to unwind on the island.

It is clean, friendly, and very safe - Bermuda is a very wealthy island, with very high standards of living, so you do not see the poverty that you see on many of the Caribbean islands. And it has lots of little secluded beaches, where you will often find that you have the beach to yourself.

Bermuda is a little more expensive than other destinations, but it is well worth it. I usually stay at Grotto Bay, which is nice and reasonably priced, and probably the most conveniently located hotel on the island. I would also consider they Wyndham, Elbow Beach Club, or the Reefs, which are all on the South Shore - famous for its pink beaches. They are a little further out, and a little more expensive, but very nice. If you're looking for total seclusion, check out 9 Beaches - individual guest cottages, some of which are located right over the water.

There are no rental cars on the island, but you can rent a moped (which I DO NOT recommend), or you can take the public bus/ferry system (which I HIGHLY recommend) - it is very clean, very efficient, a very good way to see the island, and can get you wherever you want to go.

There is a fair amount of shopping, and you can find a few deals. The best part about shopping there is that there is no currency exchange - the Bermuda dollar is pegged to the US dollar, and US money is accepted everywhere - so you don't have to worry about exchanging money, rates, etc.

There is excellent snorkeling, diving, and golf - more courses per capita than any other country.

Wherever you go, have fun!

The Virgin Islands. Trunk Bay on St John is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and the water is great in the Virging Islands. There are also some very nice beaches on St.Thomas, like Magens Bay.
