Proper method for brewing tea:Water must be boiling hot to prepare good tea>tea bag or tea leaves should not be soaked for more than 3-5 minutes or the tannin would leach out whereby you get the woody or tart taste.Only after you have remove the tea leaf then you add on the other ingredients.
As a general guideline a big spoonful of teas for a big mug of water and use a hot porcelain pot.preheat by swirling it with hot water.Water to be remove from stove the moment the first few bubbles appeared

Iced Tea: (2 quarts) Heat 3 cups of water in microwave until almost boiling. Add 2 family size tea bags. Let steep for 5-7 minutes. If adding sugar, do so before the mixture cools completely so the sugar will desolve. After this step, pour mixture into a 2 quart pitcher and fill the rest of the way up with water. Stir.

Hot Tea: (By the cup) Put mug in microwave and heat until almost boiling. Add a tea bag (or loose tea in a strainder) and steep until desired strenght. Add sugar or cream as desired.

(By the pot) Same as above, but use microwavable teapot.

I am not sure what kinda tea you are look to make but I make a lot of sweet tea and what I do is fill a gallon pitcher fill it with hot water , 4 family size teabags and one cup of water stir and put it in the window where the sun light can shine on it for about an hour and than it is perfect.

if you want hot boil the water and put a bag or two in it and let it set for a while and wait till its dark and how ever strong you want it also you can put sugar in it if you want sweetened... just how ever much you like... if you want cold then stick the bags in the cold water.... it has to be the right kind of bags otherwise you must use hot water and then put ice in it when its done...the box will say if its the right kind for cold or not... hope i helped...
