How does the VGA setting on a digital camera differ from the other image size settings.?

My girlfriend and I are both using Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-W100 digital camera's. The user's guide shows that the VGA image size setting is for E-mail's. I am posted in the Middle East and my girlfriend, back in the States, sends me pictures attached to E-mails. Most of the time the pictures will not attached because they are to large. If she changes her image size setting to VGA, will it help.

This is an ultra low megapixel setting. It's roughly 1/60th the size (should be about 65kb long) of pictures taken on the camera's highest setting. It should look fine on the computer screen as part of attached email. However, you will not be able to print that out and get a decent result.

the default size of sending an image through internet and especially mail is VGA[640 x 480]. now the mail's antivirus operator does not accept more than VGA resolution pictures as they are aware of the viruses spreading through them. so they do not allow images more than VGA. but one thing is that u can send a file or image of any size to ur girlfriend if u have the yahoo! messenger by using the "send file" function.

What everyone else said. What most peole do, is shoot at best quality, because that gives you the best prints, and then when you want to send a few pictures in an email, make copies of those specific pictures in an image editor to shrink the file size.
