Because this country was founded by religious people on Christian values. It is in their basic nature to overthrow the U.S.

Is your question is referring to the erroneous statement that America was founded as a xtian nation? Most of the founding fathers were NOT xtians. Read your history you dumb American.

I'm all for America, but I weep at what is being done to the constitution in the name of xtianity. I shudder to think of how the govt is trying to take us back a few centuries with the current administrations 'policies'. I'm so sad that instead of fixing our current troubles here on the home front, we make war with countries that have never fired a shot at us. The govt wants to be big brother to not only us, but everyone else on the planet.

Atheists are NOT unamerican. This seems like a badly veiled attempt to "demonize" atheists, since you can't beat them at the intellect game. You are a sad, pathetic person, and so very, very dumb.

One would have to presume that if Atheists are 'unamerican', then they would display this attitude by disregarding the laws of the land. Would you be so kind as to chew on this for a little while, and explain the contradiction for us? Christians make up about 75% of the US population and 75% of the US prison population. No big surprise there.

Atheists, on the other hand, make up about 10% of the US population... but they make up only 0.2% of the US prison population. Now, isn't THAT a surprise? That means that atheists are FIFTY (50) times LESS LIKELY to be incarcerated than Christians. Pretty strange, huh, for a group that has no god-given guiding moral principals?

I can think of only two possibilities that might reasonably be said to account for this discrepancy:

1. Atheists are of a higher ethical and moral caliber than Christians, and thus are less prone to do the same kinds of nasty things that land so many Christians in the slammer;

OR,

2. Atheists are, overall, a lot smarter than Christians and thus, they are less likely to get caught in the course of their transgressions.

It's GOT to be one or the other... take your pick.

Madeline Murray O'Hare was an obnoxious sh#t heel, but lack of belief doesn't make them all bad. A lot of believers aren't all that wonderful either. Many people would say our current President is pretty Unamerican, yet he's been a God addict for over 25 years now!! Go figure!

So, where do you get your stereotypes from, huh? I've never heard of an UNAMERICAN atheist unless they were not American citizens.

Um...what? If anything they are more American because they embrace the values of free speech and the separation between church and state. It's the ultra religious people who are turning this country into a Christian republic, much like the Islamic republics in the Middle East.

Nobody is Unamerican. We're all the same inside.

Please learn to accept that.

When America starts to actually have a separation of governement and religion, and we have a non-Christian as president, then you might see more Atheists who are pro-American. As it is, you only have leadership that thinks the Christian Right are the only religion worth living in the US. Otherwise, you're seen as a freak if you're non-Christan, or Atheists. why do people make such broad, sweeping generalizations????

what facts do you base your assumptions on?

I'll be honest with you here... i don't like the America we have become... but the America we could be... now that's a beautiful idea.

imagine, no Neo-Nazi-christian right wing psychopaths leading us in to war, setting common men against one another, or ruling with fear!

if you ask me, it's the far right that is UN-American, because they seek to destroy any way of life that isn't theirs, by calling anyone that doesn't agree TOTALLY with them a "unpatriotic person".

and if you ask me, a person that is willing to think, and "challenge the status quo", instead of just blindly following without question, that is EXACTLY where the
"American Spirit" truly lies.

Because America has become a church state. The infiltration of religiousity into all aspects of American life have made it so that anyone who doesn't believe in God, doesn't fit in. Correction, anyone who doesn't believe in the Christian God, doesn't fit in. So while our nation pretends to be a place of free religiuos expression, the Christian bias makes it a hard place to live for people who believe differently.
