I started a work out routine about 2 or 3 weeks ago warming up with aerobcs and doing machine weights afterwards. The problem is I use the gym at my apartments and they dont have freewights. I read that freeweights are better for strength gain, but I've just begun my workout program. How critical are free wights to my workout routine if my goal is to lose fat and gain muscle mass? Should I buy some freeweights for my apartment or invest in a club membership? Any other ideas or comments?

Ok please listen to me as I am a certified trainer, and have been lifting for many years. Free weights are the best thing for you being a beginner and all. The only thing machines do is offer resistance training for either expert lifters to help them hit the muscle from different angles, or its used by inexperienced lifters (mostly women) who think that you get the same results off of a machine. For you I highly recommend free weights, but only if you're serious about it as you will gain 10x's more muscle of free weights then machines. I'd invest in a gym membership as it gives you everything you'll ever need when it comes to working out. Also, if you are trying to put on muscle take your bodyweight and multiply it by 1.5 and thats how many grams of protein a day you'll need to consume. Best of luck to ya.

Free weights are 100% better than machines! You can use machines to build your strength initially, but there will be limits to muscular strength and lean muscle mass. Invest in a fitness club is always my first recommendation to people, but on the other hand, I won my first Ironman by free weights and home in my garage and 80% of the weights were dumbbells!! You can continue I recommend up to 8 weeks, but if you are comfortable working out at home, then look around and invest in some dumbbells...just to let you know that we you start with free weights you may ask yourself....I did 50lbs on the machine, and I can only do 35 with dumbbells!

I work out alot go to gym a bit but enjoy my private time work out at home . Free weights are great and yes I lost alot and gained muscle from them as well.. I own a bowflex but use the free weights alot more and always start with my treadmill warm up do a 4 to 5 miles then a mix of body work outs with weights .. I do different ones every day , I find the body can toned better and and a guy will build more outer muscle never over work one area every day ... give the muscle time to relax after you worked it out for at least a day rest.. I had a persoanl trainer tell me many tricks and man it does work ... ok sorry I go on and on about working out good luck!

No! Recreation machines are less difficult, you are right. That is due to the fact that you don't have got to steadiness the weight with aiding muscle groups. Free weights are much better, since it makes use of the entire aiding muscular tissues required to keep the burden, stability it, and so on. Free weights are higher for "sensible force".

Free weights are better, but not as good for you as dedication and persistence. When you are in a position to afford it, go ahead, but the best thing to do is learn to just work out hard, consistently. You can lose fat anywhere you can do cardio, if you choose to work hard, and constantly.

No! workout machines are extra handy, you're good. it rather is considering the fact which you do not would desire to stability the burden with helping muscle tissues. unfastened weights are lots extra valuable, because of the fact it makes use of each and every of the helping muscle tissues required to hold the burden, stability it, and so on. unfastened weights are extra valuable for "smart power".
