depends. in my area there is a local shop called PAKI STORE.
run by a Asian family, been there for years. but the world is going p.c crazy. if u say anything that amuslin may not agree with. you'r called a racist. they will attack u verbal or physically. but when Muslim's or any one else Say's any thing about any other faiths etc. you're expected to take it . you can not even hang out the flag of your own country, without the Muslims taking offence.
we have to learn to live with each other and learn about each others faith's life styles. so the nutters out there DO NOT TAKE OVER. so somethings may be look petty but there not..

It may be petty to you but to others it can be insulting. We, as a society, should learn to respect each other more.
I agree words can't do any great harm but there are words in certain context that are offensive to a group of people.
At one time N****r would have been aceptable to most white people and widely used but now i would hope most people would find it very offensive. I hope one day we find Paki equally offensive.

You are asking about when people get upset over racial slurs, and you're using "paki" as an example, right?
I think it's not the word itself, but the intention behind using the word that people are reacting to.
That's because such words are often used in a way that makes it seem like the speaker believes that he/she is better than the person he/she is talking about.
Therefore, the sense of prejudice behind the word is what gives the word its power, and causes offense.

Sure they should. But people are afraid of what they don't know, so they cover up their fear with anger and insults. The way to fix this problem is better integration, rather than the ghettoisation that has happened over the last 50 years. But, of course, we are a lot of drunk, immoral, promiscuous criminals, so who want want to integrate with us? The only way to fix that stereotype is prove that we don't conform to it. That means not getting so drunk we throw up and pass out in the street or getting pregnant from one-night stands and blokes we've known for all of six months.
'Paki' is from the word Pakistani, but over the last 30 years it has become widely used as a derogatory term for anyone who looks remotely Asian.

If you are saying that sometimes we are too politically correct, then you may have a point. However this word is a term of abuse; its not a harmless word, it is a token of hate. When terms like this are used too readily, real stick & stones will soon follow & that is the problem.

hi pal, human beings will not in any respect quarrel over petty issues till some thing is lurking below it. each and every so often you're too centred on assembly the well-known needs (him is figure, you the kin chores) that you detect little time to communicate, communicate & you should actually have some laughter & relaxing. . for sure you're both lower than pressure out. Your husband on his paintings (whats up, he might want to also be having complications), if you're getting drained of being a housewife. Have a heart to heart communicate. Get to understand what's occurring at the same time with his existence at the moment, even as percentage him extra about your each and every activities. the finest challenge one party needs to take heed to is complains. also if petty quarrels arises, solid away the delight & detect innovations on the thanks to teach regret. keep in mind each and every unapologized arguement almost continually consists of over to the subsequent arguement. through then you quite've already grew to develop right into a molehill right into a mountain. that's okay to argue & to quarrel. that's component to boom, yet detect innovations on the thanks to assert "sorry" even as needed because it quite is the perfect healer of relationships. decelerate your %.. bypass out & have dinner, watch a movie to unwind. once you're at snapping element each and every subtle push can galvanize you.

no, unless its between people that know e/o, e.g. are friends/family etc it should not be allowed.
if derogatory remarks become assumed and accepted colloquials then there is a danger that the corresponding attitudes will also align themselves to that)
just imagine the outrage if it was assumed that all women would be called p us s ie s or c _ _ _s, and it was established that they should accept being called this?
there are subtler examples

My dear, anybody who calls you a "paki" does so with malice.
"Paki" is a racist epithet. Do you also think "n*gger", "kike", "sp*c", "wog" and "go*k" are "minor"? These terms are meant to harm. Make the fact that you find such racist remarks offensive. I am white, and I find the term "Paki" terribly offensive and will always say so if it is repeated in my presence.

This country has gone P.C. mad!!!! We are called pommies, limeys, brits, ETC. It seems to me that we allow ourselves to be called whatever people want to call us and because of our stiff upper lip we accept it, unlike these minority guests of our country who take offence at the slightest insult or nick name, lets get rid of P.C. and call a spade a spade!!!
