If no rental car and want to take public transit instead, from the airport, use 192 Rocket to Kipling subway station (it will take you all the way from there). From Kipling, use the subway to go either downtown or Scarborough, subway trains have maps so you could have a look. It should lead you to which subway station you are going to, if you need more information, please send me an e-mail at totally_del@hotmail.com .

First off, Scarborough is huge. The closest street to Pearson is Victoria Park and it continues east to the Scarborough/Pickering border. The northern border (I believe) is Highway 7 but I could be wrong on that one. If you are driving yourself, take the 427 or the 409 to the 401 East over to Victoria Park and then go from there. However, if you are going to be in the south end of Scarborough (near Lake Ontario) depending on the time of the day, it may be faster for you to take the 427 south to the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) and head east until you get to the end of the Gardiner Expressway. The QEW changes names to the Gardiner once you cross the Humber River so you don't have to change roads to get onto the Gardiner. When you get off the Gardiner you will be heading into an area called The Beach district (more commonly referred to as The Beaches).

At this point, in order to keep answering this question, we really need to know where in Scarborough you are heading. If you give us some additional details (even a major intersection in Scarborough) you will get a better answer.

From the airport, there are a few ways that will take varying lengths of time, and cost.

1. get someone to pick you up (priceless).
2. take a cab ($50) or rent a car ($50 per day)
3. take the transit (less than $10)

route
1. car - from the airport take the 401 east exit and travel along the 401 to the exit that is closest to where you are going. Driving, it will take you about 20-25 minutes in regular traffic to get to the exit.

2. transit - there is nothing direct to scarborough. Take a shuttle bus to the Kipling station (subway) and then hop on the subway and take it all the way east. At the very end, hop over to the LRT and continue east and get off at whatever station is closest to where you want to go. This whole thing will take you about 1.5 hours, and will only cost you less that $10.

My question is...why would you want to go to Scarborough? ew

It's about a 25 minute drive from the airport. You have to drive east on the 401 to the Victoria Park exit, that is where scarborourgh begins. It depends on where you are going Scarborough is a huge area.

I'm making that trek right now
Took the Go Bus to Richmond Hill Centre from Pearson ($6.35) runs every hr
Then took the VIVA Blue Bus to Yonge and Steeles ($4.00) a bus was there already but missed it while buying a ticket; runs like every 8 minutes
Then took the TTC 53A down Steeles East to Warden and Steeles where I live !

1st take the 427, then take the Gardnier Exress, then the Fredrick G Express, and lastly take the Don Valley Parkway.
