Reminders of conflict: Things seem to happen in cycles. The trick is to maintain inner peace in the midst of conflict.

Reason for Conflict: Conflict is a part of existence. The hawk needs to hunt and kill to live. Bad for the bunny good for the hawk. New land masses are created by some of the most destructive forces on earth, volcanoes and earthquakes. The very elements we are made of are given birth to in the death and destruction of stars.

Is it needed in the world? All I can tell you is that I learn more from the tough times then I do the good times.

Do bad things happen for a reason? I can't speak for the universe but often times there seems to be a cause and effect relationship. If I go shooting my mouth off it is only a matter of time before I get a mouth full of knuckles. It I smoke cigarettes I shouldn't be surprised if I get lung cancer. A young child dies in an automobile accident or from leukemia... It is best I just keep my mouth shut and grieve with the family.

I think conflict is born out of people's need to be "right" and to have their views validated by others. Conflict seems to be what happens when you get a bunch of people together, whether on a small or grand scale, and who have different perspectives and they all believe that theirs is the "true" or "right" one. Look at the UN - it's basically a forum for conflict and nations aligning themselves with others who are like minded so they can fight against those who aren't.

Examples: religion, politics, ethnicity/race; culture - the underlying reasons for wars and violence and strife. The common denominator? People who believe their religion, politics, ethnicity/race and culture are superior or "right."

Is conflict needed? Yes, in many instances it is. Good things can come from debates and arguments. If scientists didn't compete/debate how far ahead would we be in the fields of research and curing disease? If activists in the US hadn't marched and been willing to undergo pain and suffering how far ahead would we be in regard to civil rights?

Bad things just like good things just happen. They don't always happen for a reason. There may be explanations behind the happening of catastrophic events but I think the question of "why" they happen most of the time is a mystery.

Yeah, seems like Murphy's law, doesn't it? Life seems to be a constant vacillation between a sense of well-being and taking pride in one's accomplishments, to just the opposite and feeling like everything is going awry and nothing you do can fix things. That sense of helplessness is meant to remind us that we are dependent on God and not on our own physical or intellectual abilities. It's meant to remind us that life is temporary, and we need to be growing spiritually and be more responsive to the needs of those around us. It's there to remind us that we aren't done learning and growing yet. Conflict is related to stress, and stress continues until people make decisions. Hopefully they are decisions which lead to continued growth. Decisions are what helps to build our characters - because after all, it is only little children who have to be told what to do most of the time, and we are all magnificent children of God who are learning and growing to be more like our Heavenly Father.
When bad things happen, it is either as a result of our actions, someone else's actions, or a result of living in this mortal world subject to physical laws. Sometimes bad things happen because people are selfish, or they choose to yield to the influence of Satan and his unseen followers, or sometimes there is the law of action and reaction, even if it doesn't seem to make sense at the time. Sometimes we just have natural disasters or accidents or illnesses because we live in a mortal world subject to the laws of entropy and stress. Sometimes it is next to impossible to find order in some of the stress that goes on around us. That's where faith comes into play.

this place is a battle ground which originated in heaven when one third of the angels rebelled, this is a place we share with the devil and his fallen crew. we are tested by god to see first hand what comes of sin and its affect on everything so so we will learn to despise sin and become loyal and faithfull subjects to god when risen after death (achieved by being joined to christs spirit.) and making us clean by his sacrifice so we can even get to heaven because man is but filfy rags in the sight of god, and again god says all have fallen short of the glory of god there is no-one righteous not even one. we are to become like the angels but unlike the angles of old have experienced and seen the result of evil and tasted its fruit. basically life is a test and a lesson even angels are watching amazed and learning from this. we have become like god knowing the difference of good and evil now we must eat from the tree of life.
