Take her to the vet closest to where you found her, or the one that seems the most popular in your neighborhood, as she may need medical attention. It's also possible that she's been microchipped. The vet should have a scanner to be able to tell, and then they would be able to contact her owners. It's also possible that that may be her vet, especially if you live in a small town.
As well, many people go to the vets and shelters first when they've lost a dog and so by taking here there you may help the owners find her quicker, especially if she got away by accident.

Take her to your local vet to have her checked for your safety and the dogs because you dont know how long shes been outside and if she's picked up disease or is shes been hurt. The vet will be able to identify any problems the dog mightt have. The vet will also most likely know dog owners in the area and he migh also have connections with other vets who know even more dogs in the area, so he/she might know know the dog and her owners. The vet will probably offer good advice on what to do. Another thing you could do would be to call your local animal shelter and ask there advice. I would be a little cautious about giving the dog to them because you might not be sure if they are a good shelter, you might want to check the shelter out yourself to see what its like and if it looks like a good shelter, but that's your decision. Make sure you tell them though, that you have found the dog and give them th name of the breed the dog is and your phone number so if anyone comes in looking for the dog the they will get your phone number and will be able to contact you. Make sure they are the owners. Get flyer's up as soon as possible to. A vet will have good advice so contact him/her and do what he says to do.

If there is a possibility that you keep her, take her to the vet immediately...she may have been hit by a car and need medical attention. She could also be sick. The vet would also be able to check for a microchip and locate an owner. If you know that you are not going to keep her, contact a shelter to pick her up. They will have a veterinarian to look her over and maybe she can find a new home. Hope things turn out well.

Find out whether or not your city has a no kill shelter. If they have a no kill shelter then you could take the dog there. Otherwise, if you want to hold on to the dog then take it to the vet to get it checked out. If the owners show up maybe they will re-imburse you. Otherwise, the dog will be yours. If we found a child in the street, we would not hesitate seeking out medical attention to make sure they are ok. Handwritten fliers are better than nothing!

sounds like she is in a state of shock, more than likely hit by a car. as the last person said call the shelter or even a local vet might know the owner,

Take her to an animal shelter. She needs help and they'll provide that for her. Also, her owner will have to answer as to why she wasn't on a leash or in a fenced yard. Not keeping your animals in your own yard only puts THEM at risk and people who are too irresponsible to do so need to answer to somebody.

Also look for flyers the owner may have put up, or ads in the lost & found section of the newspaper.
