My hair is naturally a dark brown and I love going a natural dark purple or black...and by the time the third shampooing comes around..I have brown spots where the colour has faded!!! I use colour safe shampoo and everything! and I don't want to redye my hair everytime theres a little spot...help!!!! How do I keep all over colour?? Thank you!

My big question would be which kind of dye are you using? Is it semi, demi permanent? Without knowing this, and assuming you're using a permanent haircolor, the first rule of thumb is to...

1. Wait 24-48 hours after your last shampoo before the color is applied. The natural buildup of hair oils will help the color grab better for a deeper and longer lasting hue concentration.

2. Allow 48 hours or longer to pass after the color is applied and washed out to resume your normal shampoo cycle (if you absolutely MUST wash it, just rub your scalp like you would if you were shampooing WITHOUT using shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would afterwards. This breaks up the oils but doesn't affect the color concentration).

3. Avoid shampooing colored or highlighted hair in hot water. Cool water is best for colored hair followed by a cuticle closing colder water rinse. If you can't stand cool or cold water, use lukewarm water.

These are really the tried and true methods that have always worked for me. I'm brown/dark brown and color my hair light, light blonde on a frequent basis.

P.S. A great alternative to the Clairol box dye is to go to a sally beauty. They have professional haircolor that you can do at home, but it's the same price or cheaper than the clairol at regular stores. Anyone that works there is a professional and all you have to do is ask for what you need. They will help you to pick the color and developer that you need. You can even pick up a super-duper hair repair conditioner for after you color for only 99 cents!

Use Aveda color conditioner in Black Malva, apply after every shampoo, try to go a few days between shampoos so it doesn't wash out as fast, always rinse with luke warm water, not hot.

Are you using permanent dye?
If so and it still fades be sure to buy a shampoo for colored or dyed hair

dont keep dying it, it will seriusly ruin your hair. i know someone who had that happened to them so i think you should ask your hairdresser or find a hairdye that will keep colour longer.
