I mean, I do want to gain muscular mass (primarily) and strength (secondarily), but the time I spend in Martial arts (twice per week) might count against 'recovery time'...
How do you schedule both?

I spend an hour at the gym at least 3-4 times a week (I do upper body mon, wed, fri and lower body tues or thurs) but I think that it would speed recovery due to the fact of the carido aspects of sparring and such.

since your not strenuously working the muscles by weights, and your forcing more oxygenated blood to the recovering muscles, that the healing process would speed up a little.

I also train two nights a week and sometimes twice on the weekends, plus my training time outside of class, and have had no problems in any recovery time from weightlifting.

So I don't think that your martial arts training will count against the recovery, as you're only feeding more freshly oxygenated blood to the recovering muscle tissue; but helps it, the true recovery time is during the time you sleep; so a good night's rest would prob'ly be the better answer.

I usually do 3 times a week of low impact weight lifting, 2 days of cardio, and train the other 2 days.

I do anaerobic exercise four times a week. Many of my students workout with weights daily. You'll be OK as long as you keep spend adequate time stretching.
