Christians do not believe in the prophet Muhammad because he is not named in their bible and they do not recognise any other scripture as being correct other than the bible that sits on their table. Most Christians won't even accept what is written in the dead sea scrolls even though they are a purer and older source of scripture than the bible that they read. I can't remember the exact scripture but there is a reference to another prophet after jesus in the new testament that could refer to Muhammad but christians tend to ignore or twist this passage.

Interesting quotes from the Hadith about Muhammad
Muhammad was a white man Volume 1, Book 3, Number 63.
Muhammad owned a black slave Volume 9, Book 91, Number
368.
Muhammad said more women were in hell than men and that women lacked intelligence. Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301,
Muhammad has his chest opened and washed by the angel Gabriel Volume 1, Book 8, Number 345,
The Qur'an says, "O ye who believe! Turn unto Allah in sincere repentance! It may be that your Lord will remit from you your evil deeds and bring you into Gardens underneath which rivers flow, on the day when Allah will not abase the Prophet and those who believe with him. Their light will run before them and on their right hands; they will say: Our Lord! Perfect our light for us, and forgive us! Lo! Thou art Able to do all things," (66:8-9). Notice how it says if you are sincere you may receive forgiveness.
In Christianity, Jesus is God in flesh who paid for our sins on the cross (1 Pet. 2:24). Because of that, we Christians are secure in Him and do not have to worry about doing enough good works to please God since we are saved by grace through faith in Him, (Eph. 2:8-9).
Question: Why should we Christians give up our guarantee of salvation in Jesus for the requirements of your Qur'anic law when you yourselves don't even know if you have done enough good deeds to be saved on the Day of Judgment?

Because the seal of God is not a large mole. In order to be saved from our sins, a sinless sacrifice had to be offered. Muhammad could not be the one to do that on our behalf, because he was a sinner.
40:55 Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And ask forgiveness of thy sin and hymn the praise of thy Lord at fall of night and in the early hours.
47:19 So know (O Muhammad . . .) that . . . none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women...

This article shows that even the Quran will affirm Muhammed' was not without sin.
On the other hand, Jesus was completely, from his birth, without sin. Jesus poses this rhetorical question to his opponents and accusers in John 8:45-46: "Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can you prove me guilty of any sin?"
In his culture, "prove guilty of sin" refers to his keeping the Law. Did he deviate from it? His opponents did not take him up on his challenge.
Next, Peter lived and walked with Jesus for at least three years. If anyone could, then the chief Apostle surely saw some minor sin in the Lord, right?
"To this you [Christians] were called because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." (1 Peter 2:21-22)
In verse 22, Peter quotes from Isaiah 53:9, which Jesus fulfilled in his suffering and death. So the chief Apostle did not find even a minor sin in Jesus Christ—no sin at all.
Finally, the Apostle John also lived and walked with Jesus for three years. What is his assessment of Jesus from his own observations?
"But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin." (1 John 3:5)
The verdict is in: John never saw a sin in the Lord, whom he saw up close and personal. Both declarations by Peter and John are remarkable. It is one hundred percent certain that if we had followed these apostles for three years every day, then we would have seen at least one sin. But these two did not see even one sin in Jesus.
Muhammad never performed a single miracle by his own admission.
In the following Meccan verse in Sura 17, Muhammad answers the charge that he cannot work miracles. Allah commands his messenger to "say" the following to his critics.
17:93 . . . Say, "Glory to my Lord. Am I anything but a mortal, a messenger?" . . . (Haleem)
In this next Meccan verse, people again question Muhammad about this inability to work miracles.
13:7 The disbelievers say: "Why has no miracle been sent down to him from his Lord?" But you [Muhammad] are only there to give warning . . . (Haleem, my insertion)
It is an ironical fact that the Quran is clearer about Jesus’ miracles than it is about Muhammad’s (non)miracles: "And I [Jesus] heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring to life by Allah’s leave [permission]" (Sura 3:49, Hilali and Khan). Why did not the Quran explicitly and loudly and unambiguously declare Muhammad’s miracles, as it does about the miracles of Jesus?
Jesus, on the other hand, performed countless miracles.
Healing lepers (Matthew 8:2-4; Mark 1:40-42; Luke 5:12-13, 17:11-19);
Healing the blind (Matthew 20:29-34; Mark 8:22-26, 10:46-52; Luke 18:35-43);
Calming the storm (Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:37-41; Luke 8:22-25);
Walking on water (Matthew 14:25 and Mark 6:48-51);
Feeding 4,000 and 5,000 (Matthew 14:15-21; Mark 6:35-55, 8:1-9; Luke 9:12-17; John 6:6-13)
John 21:25 "And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen."
Muhammad was only human. Jesus was fully human, yet fully divine as well. Look at some of these titles of Muhammed and Jesus respectively.
Muhammed;
Warner: Mecca 58, Medina 7
Announcer: Mecca 22, Medina 13
Prophet: Mecca 2, Medina 33
Messenger: Mecca 20, Medina 167
Jesus;
Rabbi: 17
Teacher: 40
Prophet: 20
Christ: 55
Son of David: 10 (only others besides Jesus use this title about him)
The Lord: 140
Son of Man: 81 (only Jesus uses this about himself)
Son of God: 60
The "I Am": 20
Muhammad died of sickness aggravated by poison, the other died on the cross for the sins of the world. And the major point is: Only One is alive today. And you know Who that is.
Hope this helps, and if you want to know more, please ask!
Booyakasha!

Because muhammad is dead, and my LORD and SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST is alive and well. Call on muhammad and see if he answers you, call on my LORD and not only does HE hear you, HE will answer you in your heart through the HOLY SPIRIT.
