Kingreef: I do not fear death, as FDR said: We have nothing to fear but fear itself. When you fear something you give it power over you, you let it dictate youe actions. I have chosen freedom over fear.

People see what they have inside them in everything. If they have hate, they see hate. If they have peace, it only makes sense that they would see peace. We all see the world through self-colored glasses...the good things can't be seen unless that's what's inside.

You find inner peace by focusing upon the basic precepts set out in Buddhism-right thought, right action, right speech. From meditating on these precepts you advance to putting them into practice in your every day life so from seeking the very basic human desire for inner peace you develop a means of living that helps create a better world for you and everyone else.

Mirage,
We can make ourselves any way we wish. Yet, if the source of our pain is from the fear of death, there is only the inevitable end. For all men die.

That is what I have experienced. It HAS to be explained. Is there only death? What about those spiritual experiences that I've had? Doesn't that prove to me personally, that there is something beyond what I see, and what I feel in this flesh decreed to die?

And as I waited, and planned my own death, I came to know the Lord. The bottom was suddenly removed from my soul, and the verification of what I saw and what direction I could go became apparent; follow after Christ, in whom I can trust, who gave me the gift of eternal life.

Then as I studied the word of God, I found out that He is my Peace. From Him I have that continuity, that eternal part of myself edified by Him who defeated death.

Yes, that is my Lord, and it's Him that I now serve.

I do agree with this statement.

To figure out why there is no world peace, one need only look at the conflict and turmoil within one's own soul--and come to realize that there are 6 billion + other souls, many in similar states of conflict and turmoil...which leads one to conclude very easily why the world is not presently at peace.

If one wishes to contribute to world peace, one must start with oneself. For it is only innerly peaceful people who are able to be at peace with others.

I love that quote, my favourite though is:

"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”

Another one I like:
"Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” - Buddha
