I took dinner to a friend last night. Her father is very sick and her life consists of sitting with him day and night helping him in any way. She's feeding him and caring for him night and day, but she's totally forgetting to take care of herself. When you lose a parent and you have to take care of another, you somehow lose all those around you that have taken care of YOU. I guess it is up to friends to make sure we step up and make sure the people we care about still care about themselves enough to keep on living.

Umm, let's see... oh, *whew!* As it happens, I actually did do something sort of nice the other day. A co-worker of mine is really into fashion but is having a bit of a hard time financially and can't afford designer clothes. He works as a stand-up comic on the side and he likes to make a good impression. Anyway, I gave him an expensive shirt of mine that I didn't wear much because I knew he'd like it.

Don't know the exact date, but it was sometime in the Spring of 1971. I was in the parking lot of a Walmart and saw a very fat middle-aged woman fall down and start gasping. A little dog (i don't know if it was hers or not) came out of nowhere and started licking her face. Well I kicked that mutt a good ten feet in the air so it would leave her alone. By this time, the woman was flailing her arms against the ground and making little grunty noises. I looked in her purse to see if she had any meds or I.D. card or anything. And there, right on top of a bunch of tissues and other meaningless stuff was $83 in cash. I put the money in my pocket and thought to myself, "Damn. I do a good deed and God rewards me almost instantly. I ought to do more good deeds." But I never thought about it again till just now.

Yes, today, I cooked breakfast for my teen age children, i cleaned the house of an elderly Friend that is now unable, Yesterday, I sat with a friends elderly mom that has Alzheimer's disease, so she could run her errands. Yes, all for free, well it wasn't exactly free, i got something out of it, pure joy that I am able to do these things. Some are not able. that to me is a tremendous blessing. What have you done if anything today.

you know, although I do things for people, rarely do I keep track or take note of what I'm doing. Are these things I do considered "nice"? Perhaps. However, I don't necessarily view them as such. They are just things I do from my heart...things that feel so natural to me. To be honest, it's all I know how to do. But, believe me, for as many times as I do something "nice" for someone, chances are I'll do something to screw it all up eventually. I'm always good for a big "let down". Hey, I'm human.....it's bound to happen. That won't stop me from trying. :)

I try to be nice to people all the time. The cool part is when you're nice to them, they are nice to you.

I made breakfast in bed for my fiance this morning. Eggs, bacon, little sausages, grits (I'm in South Carolina!) and coffee. He enjoys this and I never get to make him breakfast during the week. And it is his birthday week!
