Hinduism is based on a wide number of deities that represent various cosmic forces. We believe in 'karma' and that the soul is eternal. Your deeds determine what the future beholds for you, some actions bear fruit in a short span of time, others take longer but you reap what you sow in this life or the next. Chanting mantras is a form of prayer and meditation. We don't chant them expecting the gates of heaven to be thrown open once we die. They can be a source of peace...of faith. Besides, there is no heaven and hell in Hinduism. The soul is the happiest when it is set free...when it isn't confined to a corporeal form.
It is very easy to form an opinion on something or someone without digging deeper. Whats alien to you isn't necessarily 'crazy' as you termed it and then if there is a heaven an hell, I'm pretty sure that it has a similar distribution irrespective of the country...you've good people and bad people everywhere. If you truly are interested in finding out more about Hinduism or any other religion for that matter...I'd suggest you travel and see the world with your own eyes, meet people, be one of them. It will make you a wiser and a broad minded person who accepts the differences in people. That's the beauty of life.

well.... what is written in the mantras is the same thing that is written in the holy books of other religions.... instead of everytime reading a book... they remmember it and chant them... so that others also can hear...... they are not magic matras or black magic ........lol........ does chanting mantras lead to heaven ? No ...... its like saying just reading the bible everyday would lead you to heaven..... you think it is crazy stuff because you havent tried to find out the meaning of what they chant :)

And why should I worship a cruel god like yours, outside of the threat of going to Hell I Mean? After all your concept of Hell was stolen from the Norse and twisted to fit your sick religion.

The real question is after knocking on the devil's door so much, will you be surprised when he answers you? You are the one spending so much time thinking about hell and wishing it on others. Have you given any thought of what you have drawn to yourself? Probably not anymore than you'd consider tolerance and understanding.
