a cable jack is circular with a little metal wire in the middle

an ethernet port is just like a telephone cord port except that it is elongated horizontally a little bit

the cable jack is for both TV and internet. The ethernet cord is for carrying a high speed internet connection when used with a modem:

the cable which has the internet connection goes to the modem, and an ethernet cable carries the internet connection from the modem to your computer/router
