First, there are different searches that police officers perform. To be a female and be "frisked" or patted down and have your pockets checked by a male police officer is not illegal. A full body cavity search on a female is conducted by a female police officer with other female officers present.

The male officers are supposed to detain the female suspected of a crime, until a female offices is available to do the searching, however if there is no female officer available then they can do the searching.

It is LEGAL there are proper procedures for searching women regardless weather an male or female officer does the searching.

If a police officer believes that a women is a danger to him, herself, or others, or if she makes threatening remarks or gestures, that police officer has the right to apprehend the subject, put her in restraints and search her person for weapons.

This does not give him the right to remove her clothing or strip search her.

It is illegal to do that. But if it's for a weapon u can pat her down to a certain point, but it is preferably for a female officer to pat a female.

yes it is illegal and improper and should never be done, two people should normally be present at the time as well,
having said that i would have no probs with a woman police officer giving me a good frisking,
