My mum is a clueless pensioner but she seems to have gotten to grips with the BT Quartet 1100 (as found in Argos). (When I mean clueless, I mean clueless and unwilling to learn!) Watch out for the complaints re: having to plug it into the mains though. Every over-50 I know complains about this!

I have got an idea
get one of these a ONE.TEL OT15 brilliant simple cordless phone with simple answering machine and big buttons and one big button to pick up and put down.
very few fetures but craking little thing and we have one and it is still going.
Ive seen it for 24.99 at currys but im sure you will find it even cheeper.
VERY simple
good for old people

Believe or not Argos have some easy to read dial phones that would probally be ideal & reasonable in price to.
