Many, the violent ones. But perhaps even more so video games take them away from the contact with other children and adults that they should have, and do not let them use their imaginations.

Video games are NOT bad for children.
Like everything else, they must be controlled, children have trouble setting boudaries. You have to limit the amount of time they play them.
It is proven by studies that thought-hand coordination is improved, and that multi-tasking abilities are better in gamers than non-gamers.
Anyone who is affected by simply playing a game in which you shoot zombies or aliens or other such stuff, even Grand Theft Auto, was already an unstable personality and would have acted out from some other trigger anyway. That is the case of the kid in the video. It is the same as saying no more movies about serial killers or horror movies, or tv shows that show cops getting shot.
Normal people will not suddenly become killers, and we are not training our children to be killers by letting them play video games. Abnormal people will be abnormal no matter what, and we can't start limiting things because of what a few abnormal folks do.

i would disagree but children should spend no longer than an hour- the maximum, with 15 minute breaks in between. what is bad for the children is for them to stare at the screen for a long period of time and not pausing and taking breaks. not to mention also that its bad for their eyes as well. but video games in general do not act as a negative influence on people playing them, as a whole

If that video is your evidence against videogames, I suggest you ban amusement parks, beach vacations, and Christmas, since they also elicit that response.
In moderation, video games aren't any more harmful than television. The problem arises when parents can't teach their children why video games shouldn't be the only thing they do all day.

no, but too much of anything is bad for anybody. As long as they know hwf to diferentiante between games and real life then it's fine. Children should be out playing somewhere too, not just coocked up inside playing video games and geting fat.

Not in moderation..... as long as they still have lots of other mental stimulants, exercise etc etc
And they dont become an obsession, and as long as the age limitation is followed, i would'nt let a 10 year old kid on "Grand Theft Auto"!

I think they should play in moderation. They should be taking some exercise in the form of sports and play too.

I think video games are very good for children. It teaches them communication skills as well as hand-eye cordination... kinda like typing.... learning to type is all hand-eye cordination!
