what does it usually mean when you breath in and you get a really sharp pain sometimes its unbearable ?

You may have a chest infection or an injury - you would probably know if you had injured say, one of your ribs. You could have a spontaneous pneumothorax - don't ask me to explain that one - but to do with your lungs where one collapses.

Any chest pain should be investigated by a doctor. If it is really painful and causes severe difficulty in breathing, pain spreads to either of your shoulders or arms, you are clammy, sweating, pale and nauseous, you MUST go immediately to A&E - preferably in an ambulance.

Ive been wanting to know this too! Ive been getting chest pains every now and again and its really painfull and come in sharp spasms everytime i breath in! I keep convincing myself im havin a heart attack but feel too stupid to go to docs and it normally happens on a night anyway! Dont no about u, but i get made to feel like a hypercondriact (soz bout the spelling) everytime i go to docs so i try to avoid it, if ya find out what it is let me no xxx Good luck xxx

That could be any number of reasons. See a doctor. Any time you suffer chest pains that is considered serious until a doctor says otherwise. Get going now. Good luck!

Well first off all why on earth are you sittin here asking mostly non medical professionals get to your Gp straight away.Sounds to me you have either pulled a muscle behind your heart cavity,stressed out or having a mild heart attack,get to your gp now.

best see a doctor- it coud be one of many things!
I had a really bad back yesterday and could barely move- I ended up in A and E - I was told to take ibuprofen and Paracetamol- absolutely fantastic- I can now move free from pain-
muscle strain- trapped nerve- pleursy- cracked rib- strain around muscles of rib!- best get it checked out

I get that - & in my case it is a mitrovalvic prolapse. It's nothing serious but you should go to your doctor to check it out.
