Childern are a joy and bitterness to those who have them. If you are asking this question as to find an answer to another question. like should I have this baby? Then are you working and can you take care of the baby? There are a lot of loving homes with mom that can not have childern and they will give yours a good home. but if you want to keep the baby, then set up a good network for yourself because you will need help of all kinds.. If you are asking why do we have babies as a means to keep the human race agoing. Or are you asking as to why I had my son and keep him? That answer would be that I love him. Please add more to your question.

In your shoes I'd have added the word "STILL" to the question because today it's needs courage for that!
As the world looks recently, having baby becomes something between the egoism and the ill-advised!
I'll wait for a better word!

Just like you have survival instinct to fear death, our species also has an instinct to survive and it is encoded in our DNA and reinforced by our culture. Having a baby is a form of survival, a way that our species and culture cheats death. If we loose that instinct we will go extinct.
