You have to go through their papers and/or checkbook to see if there is a payment. Also, check with their attorney, and their insurance agent.

To maintain a policy, the premium has to be paid at least once a year. Gather all credit card statements, bank statements and any other statements (i if not available and you are the executor, you can ask for one from the bank), and see if anything was paid to insurance brokers or insurance companies. If he was employed, contact the employer and see if he had a company paid policy. If he was a veteran or AARP member, contact them to see if they can find out if the person had policy through them.

well you would need to contact all the life insurance cos and ask the customer service to hunt for the policy.Tell them ur a relative and you not sure where the deceased has put the papers. i'm sure they will atleast help u to know if there is a policy existing or not . They might not disclose any other info as they might need to verify ur security for privacy rules.
hope this helps.

I would check bank statements to see if a premium was being paid each month. Also, if the person was retired you can check with an old employer to see if there was ever a policy through them.
