It comes in many forms. Repeated hand washing (obsessing over germs), relocking doors (safety obsession), cleaning, order etc. It's OCD if the thoughts behind what you are doing becomes obsessive. I clean (and do so even when I using the restroom)..labels have to all face out and from big to little (cans together, boxes together..) I used to catch myself (actually other people started pointing out) how I would tidy up other people's homes! Special concentration (difficult) and medications have helped ease the anxiety that goes along with this disorder.

When an obsession (the recurrent thought) or the compulsion (the repeated act) starts to affect your normal routine, then it's a disorder. Many people have OCD traits but can function ok. They can use those traits to their advantage if channeled correctly, such as neatness...get a job cleaning! Or someone who has to have everything in order would make a great administrative assistant. Work with it as long as it doesn't interfere with your life and take it over. If it does, there's help in the form of therapy and meds.

I kind of have it. I have to take the same way to and from work and also have to change lanes in the same area or I get real paranoid. If the way to work is closed for some reason I have to call in sick.

I have a slight case. I have to sort things and straighten things and keep things clean, but when i am in a rush I can leave it alone and go my way and fix things when i get back.
